Well, I'm in a band called Plant Duw [The Children of God] here in Wales (not a religious band, by the way), and we only sing in the Welsh language. It's a four-piece outfit and we all write and sing songs, so I thought I'd post the lyrics to two of mine. Bear in mind they're translated, and so have nothing in the way of rhyme or rhythm to them in English, but you get the gist. Anyway, here we go...
Rhywun Arall [Someone Else]
I'm busy enough, and I don't see anything happening
Behind a closed door, and you didn't give me any warning
There's a man on his back somewhere in the middle of the city, and the blood is flowing
There are children starving in the wastes of Sudan right now, and they're wailing but
CHORUS: There's always someone else
There's always someone else
You can have any comfort, but I have to be on my way, my friend
I'm sorry that you're disabled, and I'm sorry but I really have to go
Maybe you think I live without a heart, but down the road
There's someone who loves you and believes you and is ready to help, or so they say
CHORUS x2
I'm not Jewish, I did nothing
I'm not black, I did nothing
I'm not gay, I did nothing
There's no-one left to rescue me
CHORUS x2
Dysgu Nofio [Learning to Swim]
Water
Spilling over my back
Water
I see the day ahead
I see the day clearly
Water
The hope is gone
I don't have a single friend
Water
I'm swimming for the shore
Water's as strange to me
As my hand on your cheek
Water
I'll go back to the world
With everyone's eyes mute
I'll go back to the world
Water
So lonely now in a cell
I have nowhere better
Water's so strange to me
Where's God taking me?
As strange now as skin
Water doesn't feel pain
Water
Spilling over my back
Water's as strange to me
As my hand on your cheek
Water
The hope is gone
Water's so strange to me
Hopes are one between us
I'm going to stay in my place
One simple little boy from town
I'm not asking for a world
Another body to keep me warm
Water's so strange to me
Come and learn to swim with me
Anyway, I know they don't look like much, but thanks for reading. This band is my life. We're playing our first gig on the 11th of December, and soon I may have some very poor quality mp3s up, so stay tuned for that.
