A glass bottle was thrown at the singer for Panic At The Disco over the weekend. I think the band sucks big time but still, a glass bottle, come on people. They did finish their set after the bottle incident but it's still a jackass thing to do. Here's video: www.youtube.com/watch?v=mxS_lLGQ2KE

I agree, Carvel is no wierder to a casual listener than a Donna Summer cover. John did his own "tour" in 2004/2005 where he performed his new songs and now he probably feels that is inappropriate to play his songs on RHCP shows. Can you imagine hearing songs from ATAXIA or Sphere In The Heart Of Silence during RHCP show?? or from other albums?? That is just not suitable. His songs would loose their magic if they are played in front of crowds of people because they are too intimate. And the covers are very very different from his own songs... Eh, I dunno. I think a semi-improvized rendition of Sphere would make a really cool opening for an encore, especially if the lighting was done properly. I get little shivers just thinking of an entire arena of people being silently entranced by this unworldly fusion of electronics for a good ten minutes before suddenly getting shaken out of it by a sudden break into Give It Away. As for the Mars Volta thing, it's hardly unheard of. The same kind of thing has happened to Andrew WK and Chicks On Speed when they opened up for the Chilis.

A brazilian singer did get knocked out by a loooot of water bottle thrown by over 50 people. Ridiculous... if the crowd don't enjoy the music ok, don't get along withthe singer or keep quiet... but this kind of agression it's a shame.

Hump de bump was present in the first gigs. Then it dissapeared I hope they'd play it again. YES! Agreed.

I believe Anthony has said that Hump De Bump is one of his least favorite SA songs. Maybe that's why it's not played much. It did sound damn good live I must admit.

Weird how Anthony dislikes possibly the funkiest song on the entire album! If I remember correctly, didn't his issues with the songs mostly concern the title?
I just wish they would play "Turn It Again" live, and maybe slice a minute off it (not the solo, of course), or even "She's Only 18." That song was made for large arenas.

i have one question. Why John won't play Mother's Milk at all? It's great album, so I'm a little bit disappointed. I know that One hot minute wasn't preformed live with John (i understand it so as everybody) but why Mother's Milk? If I remember good, john once said that knock me down is the most stupid RHCP song ever. It's one of my favorites! I heard they do Uplift Mofo and Freaky Styley a lot. What about first album, The RHCP? I would like to get an answer!

What about first album, The RHCP? I would like to get an answer! Well John likes to change his opinion pretty often. He also said he doesn't like the person he was when they made Mother's Milk. But I don't think it's only him who doesn't want to play MM songs, I guess it's all four of them. Same goes for OHM. And they don't do much of Uplift and Freaky Styley anymore. Really not. It's the usual Me And My Friends, and in the La Cigal promo show they played Sex Rap. Not that much right? And most importantly: They've been playing Nobody Weird Like Me at almost every show lately. It's not much, but it is Mother's Milk.

He said that when he was smoking pot and was taking other drugs and thought that's cool and the message in the song was opposite of his opinion. He was about 19 then

Do you think they do they same number of songs if they play longer ones or do we get more songs if they do shorter ones?
For instance Cali is a long song to begin with and it has the long intro when they do it live so if they dont do that song then they can squeeze in two shorter songs and still have the same length set.

I'm sure this has been mentioned somewhere but anyone else find it odd that Disc 2 is almost being completly avoided in their setlists? Tell Me Baby is there in every setlist, Readymade has made it's way back and 21st Century, which was always played has seemed to find it's way out of the setlists now though pops up every now and then.
11 of the 14 songs on Disc 1 have been played 3 of the 14 on Disc 2 have been played (I didn't count If because it wasn't supposed to be played)

I think it's mostly because Disc 2 is just "slower" and/or "moodier," and that's really not the vibe they want to give out in the concert. Also, "So Much I" and "Make You Feel Better" are terrible songs, but that's just me.

So Much I is one of my favorite songs on the album. Not the chorus so much but the rest of the song is a great rockin' tune. The song is all over the place. I like Make You Feel Better too. It's different.

I agree with the view that John's opinion is overriding the band when it really shouldn't. It upsets me that he doesn't want to play old songs. There are a lot of old fans out there who are just getting sick and tired of the band because they've all but eliminated their former glory and for the fact that John thinks it's the wrong image for the band.
It's not the wrong image for the band. It IS the band. Everything that has happened in the past has made them what they are today. For John to come out and say he doesn't like that image... for fuck sake I mean, it's a 4-piece band last time I checked!!

I think Anthony is more on John's side with the older music though Flea i'm betting would love to do some older stuff. Chad of course is Chad. Give him a beer and he would rock out to Justin Timberlake tunes. I think maybe if the band didn't have so many past demons more of the older stuff would be played. I think the biggest reason is that they would like to forget about that era and move on from playing sex filled stuff. Maybe good for them but no so much for the longtime fans. The sets though for someone who follows the band and knows their every move isn't nearly as exciting as they once were.

Exactly.
But bands want fresh fans, not old ones. So they win them with their newer music. The perils of the industry, I'm afraid.
