They have played Higher Ground once I believe since John has returned. John is not a fan of that era anymore. He didn't like how the album turned out and didn't like the person he was during that era. I have a mixed reaction to that because John's opinion at times does seem to overrule the rest of the band. I mean Higher Ground is a cover song. It was on the hits album. At least play that. Navarro hated funk and played old Peppers songs. I mean compare the setlist from John's return show in 1998 to the set lists from this and the last your and you would be amazed:
From 1998 through the Californication era shows the band played alot of old songs: Blackeyed Blonde, Police Helicopter, YertleThe Turtle, Freaky Styley, Organic Anti-Beat Box Band, Skinny Sweaty Man, Higher Ground, Love Trilogy, Me And My Friends, Backwoods, Nobody Weird Like Me, Fire, Subterranean Homesick Blues, and Out In L.A.. Of course these songs were not played at every show (they did play two Hillel era songs each show on the U.S. Cali. tour) but it's amazing how they ditched these songs. I understand wanting to escape the old image but come on. Even the BSSM songs are almost all gone.

I agree with you. The best moment in their setlist is Me & My Friends, cause it has that old energy. I think they should put If You Have To Ask, Backwoods and Yertle The Turtle back in their setlist. There's nothing wrong with the new slower songs, but the mix of new and old could be much better! and please play some OHM songs!

I have started working on a tour by tour songlist. Boredom has drove me to this ;D
It will probably take a bit of time to complete and I plan on trying to throw in the cover stuff on each tour too.

I don't understand why they're ditching the old songs either, or why they don't play for longer. The Peppers have had a long career - they could play up to 2 and a half hours if they chose to do so!
I understand that they want to showcase more of the songs from "Stadium Arcadium," but even then they only play the same songs (Charlie, Snow, Tell Me Baby, etc.) And why do they only play the same couple of songs from BSSM? What about "Power of Equality," "If You Have to Ask," "Naked in the Rain"... So many great songs to choose from.
I love the Peppers, but someone has to ask them why they're limiting themselves in terms of setlists. I went to see Billy Joel play in January and the man spent 3 hours hammering out every single hit (and then some) he's ever had!
Well, regarding the Peppers, I guess we'll have to wait until a special occasion for that.

These playlists are pretty long...how long do the concerts last??? Well the concert I went to in Berlin ( ;D ), they played over two hours. But that was the longest concert of the tour so far and, mind you, there was an approx. 30 min long jam thing at the end ("Thursday Night In Berlin" ;D ) I think usually they've been playing an average of about 100 min a show on this tour.

all I want to know is...
WHERE THE HELL IS TURN IT AGAIN?!
Seriously, it could easily be the best gig-closing song they've ever written - that outro's begging for some extended improvization and they're killing that potential. No 'Especially In Michigan' is a huge disappointment too. Shame they're refusing to actually play any songs that are perfect for stadium play. I'm hoping they'll take advantage of their relations with the Mars Volta to provide some additional instrumentalization once they start touring north america...

These playlists are pretty long...how long do the concerts last??? Compared to when I saw Radiohead in '03 they're short as heck. Triple encore ftw.

Not every song off the new album will be played. 13 songs have been played (part of If was played too). I'm shocked that they have played that much this early into the tour. That's almost half the album played live. For some reason I doubt Turn It Again will be played. It seems like one of those tracks that won't be played live.
