Every concert of RHCP I went to this year, there were at least some irritating folks near me--puking, yakking through some really great solos on stage (Anthony even commented from onstage once about some chick who was talking through out everything at one point), falling over drunk, etc.
What do you think about the average concert goer? Does anyone even have a guess to why some of these people show up?

If people behave like that, it's their own problem, they may not show respect but bands will play for people who pay them to and to those that care that there's people that admire it.

Anytime you venture out among the masses the general behavior will be near apalling.
We'll put common courtesy aside because the majority of the population seems to be quite lacking in that regard.
Many of the people at the concerts aren't really hardcore fans so they aren't there to hang on every note played and syllable sung.

Oh and I voted for just average folks having a good time since most of them are in some way or another even if it is infringing upon the enjoyment of others.

at sheffield there was more bottle throwng before the gig than i have ever seen, the fact some people were still doing it during the gig was a bit much.
There was an also a lad of about 14 who appeared to be attepting to retrieve something from his girlfriends throat with his tongue for a long time, i would have given up if i were him.. in fact i wouldnt have bothered, she was ugly. Anyways, i digress, to get away from all this i just headed for the front and joined those who were there for the music and fall into the goup of 'great folks who simply can't control themselves'

More and more of rock shows are getting the people who in high school would pick on you for listening to music like this. It seems like every shows I attend these days no matter the size there are alot more drunk jerks. It's really worse at punk shows these days with all the jock mentality. People go in the pits trying to hurt someone.
Now I like to drink, I get drunk but I know how to control myself. Alot of people clearly don't. It does ruin the concert expierence especially when assholes get to the point where they disrespect bands like throwing of stuff, booing etc. Really pathetic and these are the same people who during the main act that are acting like assclowns. I know it's not church, I know it's rock and roll but sometimes I wish every show would be like a Fugazi show. Respectful to bands, people looking out for each other, band not allowing this shit. Everyone enjoying themselves.
We sadly live in a world where people will go to shows, throw bottle of piss at bands and much like Woodstock, try and burn the place to the ground. It's understandable for people to get drunk and get high at shows, it's been happening for years but when people start to show nothing but disrespect towards people and bands things are getting out of hand.

At Earls Court the first night I went the crowd was more appreciative of them, but there was a lot of throwing cups around, and beer when they came onstage, but the second night I went it was more laid back, quiet, no throwing things ct

Most folk seemed ready to share the love at this last concert... Including the unknown guy who lifted me up by my ass cheeks.
There were, as always, a couple people who think themselves so punk, that they think it's cool to be rude, but what cha gonna do?
I go for me ... and a mini vacation type of feel.

I saw them on Tuesday at the Continental Arena and the pot smoking was out of hand, it made it really hard to enjoy the show with all the wasted and intoxicated idiots around us. I don't understand how people spend their hard earned cash to see a band and then get so drunk they can't even remember they were there. I will never understand...

I have to say that the RHCP gig I went to this year was maybe the most terrifying experiance I've ever had at a show. There were alot of great people there and I did chat to a couple in gaps between songs....alot of the time however I was being crushed, punched, stepped on etc. I've been to see bands that people think of as being a little rougher and never ever been afraid, I normally go in hunt of the mosh pit because I know it's not that rough-if you get hurt every one will stop and help you up. Never before have I been in a place where people are going out of their way to hurt you.

There are idiots every where, and on occasion, I've been one of them. Some times people go to shows just to get wasted, and have what they consider to be a good time, digging on the music. It could almost be anyones show. Then there are people who like to 'experience' the show, perhaps in their mind, taking it to the next level. Then their our just regular fans, who may only participate in the herbage on special occasions, such as a concert. To not expect these things to go on at a concert, can set you up for disappointment, leading to you not enjoying yourself, and feeling like you lost your money. I'm not excusing it, and I'm not saying to not stand your ground and respect your space, but consider the environment you are walking into, and set your mind accordingly. Especially at a red hot show. They've had everything happen. Some in their control, some not. Part of being a fan, in my view, is to try to add to the love fest portion. Even if times, some bitch pisses me off and I have to go old school, for the most part, I go believing the people there love the guys and their music, just as I do, so beer drinking, pot smoking, straightheads, are all a part of my music loving family. Accept the good with the bad.
Ok ... did I say that right? Or did I ramble?

Yeh, went i went to their show 2 days ago there was this couple making out the whole fuckin time. I dont know how you people feel about public displays of affection but this was ridiculous. i was trying not to let it ruin my night Oh, yeh and then there were these three girls and they were either really drunk or high but they were so ridiculous. Quite, comical though. But, besides all that the show was awesome. ;D
