This has probably been asked before but does anyone know how John plays the intro to Under The Bridge live? He certainly doesn't use a capo like on the record and it just means you have to disrupt the song, by taking the capo off (which if you are playing live isn't too ideal), in order to play the rest of the lead for the song. Any ideas?

Practice the hell out of that intro. ;D
But...I just normally play the intro a little bit more simple, without the hammer ons and pull offs. And instead of fingering the notes...play them with chord shapes...specifically the F#maj.

Practice makes perfect as they say ;D
I suppose you could just make it simpler......but dam it I'm a pefectionist with these things and I'm just curious how John plays it live without a capo? I guess I'll just have to admire his genius on this occasion ;D

Yeah...I could not play it perfectly, its quite difficult. I never used a capo to play it...I've always played it without a capo...that's the way I learned it...and the way I've always played it. So i guess thats how i can 'manage' playing it, or playing the dumbed down version. Really...I would have no advice on how to make it any easier. As I said..just fingering the chords works for me, and then picking the notes. Hows mothers milk coming? ;D

Yeah, I learnt it from the official Blood Sugar guitar book and it gives the capo version. Mothers Milk is a challenge. Thats the nicest way to describe it, lol. I think I'll take a look at it again tonight ;D

Yeah...I have that book too, and yeah it gives you the capoed version. Well its not too hard to figure out the non capoed version from that, and just figure out the fingerings of the chords. Thats what I did anyways.
Oh yeah...Mothers Milk is a bitch. ;D
