This is the best RHCP song for me, this is the song that anthony used his voice best, and has the most emotional bass lines.
I wonder what does this song about ? i heard that it's about, one day anthony gets lost in a forest and a bug bites him. is this true ? if not, then what s the subject in this song ?

After reading Scar Tissue, I started analyzing his songs. Soul to Squeeze seems to me to be about his addiction, how he knows it's killing him, and how he hopes for better days. Here are my conclusions...
"i got a bad disease"
Anthony can be referring to his drug addiction as a bad disease.
"with all the dying trees i scream
the angels in my dreams, yea
have turned to demons of greed that's me"
-He knows that this disease is killing him, and he accepts that everything in his life is darker.
"when i find my peace of mind
i'm gonna give you some of my good time"
-He hopes to find his peace of mind by leaving the drugs, and he knows that he has to do this by loving himself. Only after this, can he share his "good time" or love with others.
"oh make my days a breeze
and take away my self-destruction"
-Once again, referring to his self-destruction, and hoping for better days.
"it's a bitter berry and its very sweet

-Maybe talking about drugs as a bittersweet feeling, since he loves doing it, but he knows it's killing him. Same goes for the roller coaster, he's having a great time on it, but since he's on his feet he can fall off at any moment.

I tend to agree with Sikabekanicko (if thats how you spell it?) in that the core of the songs meaning and purpose is drug related. That makes sense. However, thinking about the bug theory, all I can see that relates to this is in the first lines of the first verse :i got a bad disease up from my brain is where i bleed: where it could refer to the time Kiedis was in Borneo and that cockaroach went into his ear. But even that seems out of place as a single reference. I think I've just made a bit of pointless analogy there  |

Hehehe, wow, that's a hard one... I'll do my best.
Although he may be talking about a relationship with a female, I believe this female could be a fan, instead of a love interest. I think that in part, he sees compares his connection with the females fans to a real relationship in this song. Here's why:
"She's a giver of constant animation/adulation"
Fans (female) adulate him constantly (flatters him) and give him animation by doing this. Obviously when you have a girl going crazy for you, it makes you happy, or "animates" you.
"I don't believe in everything I see"
I think he refers to not being able to believe everything female fans tell him, as in the love they feel for him is completely different from a real relationship love, so he can't just dive into any relationship.
"Your supernatural energy, part of my scenery"
The energy "she" gives him is almost supernatural, when he's up on stage and he hears the masses, or more specifically females screaming for him.
"What I belong to is your ecstacy"
He depends on their energy/ecstacy to do what he loves to do, and he's grown so accustomed to it, that it would be hard to give it up, so he "belongs" to it.
"The clone of my own loneliness"
I think by this he means that with a fan love, he fills a part of his loneliness even if he doesn't have a significant other. This is a "clone loneliness" because his real loneliness is for that one person that he's looking for.
"Lovin' ways that I've succumbed to"
Many times he's succumbed to this "fan love" by sleeping with his fans (in the earlier days), and I think it's hard for him to have someone he doesn't even know tell him she loves him, so he succumbs.
"You're the reason I'm in this world"
I think that by this he means that big part of changing his life and feeling good about it, was thanks to the love that the fans have for him and this is his "thanks" to them for letting him be in this world still. By "this world", he could also mean the music industry.
